Xantia's suspension systems

All Xantias feature Citroën's genuine HYDRACTIVE suspension system. Three different versions are available:

HYDRACTIVE - mechanically controlled hydropneumatic suspension.
HYDRACTIVE II - electronically controlled hydropneumatic suspension.
ACTIVA - electronically controlled hydropneumatic suspension with nearly no body roll during cornering.

Note that the suspension systems are usually tied to specific engines; the more powerful the engine, the better the suspension. However, the combinations of engines, suspensions and trim levels vary from country to country.

And if you watch a Xantia switching the headlights on and off at daylight, it might be a driver determining the state of the suspension. Citroën offers a wide range of engines for the Xantia. This range includes gasoline and diesel, four and six cylinder, normally aspirated and turbo engines.

Xantia's safety

In general, Xantias seem to be quite safe cars due to their excellent handling (thanks to the HYDRACTIVE suspensions) and their massive bodies (Xantias are somewhat heavier than many comparable cars). As most competitors, Xantias feature the following safety devices:
